Q: Did you always want to become a brewer?

I didn’t ever think I would own a brewery, I always loved beer and loved brewing it. I have a background in Biology and Micro Biology, which has helped immensely. After my dad and I started talking again after seven years, he bought me the cadillac of home-brew kits for my next birthday. I took that beer kit and started brewing like crazy. It was at that point I knew I had found my passion.

Q: One piece of advice for someone taking the first steps into craft brewing?

Read all you can about beer, ask your beer brewing friends professional and home brewers for advice. Be open to criticism as a way of learning and being a better brewer. And be prepared to have a lot of sleepless nights and physically hard days as you tweak, discover, and better your practices. And never loose the fun in brewing, because somedays it can be daunting.

Q: How’d you come up with the name Funky Bow?

A:  We were standing in the old brewery, long before the new add ons in the brewery were up and running, we were all kinda just standing there, throwing out different name ideas, when my wife, Alice called us up to the house for lunch. We were walking back and as we passed my “Funky Bow LN” sign someone pointed to it and said “let’s name is Funky Bow” that was luckily before someone stole my street sign”.

Q: Whats one of your favorite memories from FunkyBow?

A: Standing outside in the morning chopping wood while watching the sun come up.

    Q: Time with Funky Bow?

A: It’ll be three years this August.

Q: Favorite memory from Funky Bow?

A: During the summer last year, one growler night it had been down pouring all day, and being outside you’d think that would hurt business and people coming out, it was one of our busiest nights and watching everyone dance in the rain to the band playing is something I’ll never forget, just goes to show a little rain can’t stop people from having a good time here!
